Dear Perspective Employer,
Thank you for taking the time to have a look at me, my skills, my approach and what I can bring to your firm. Even though my attached resume' contains some of the facts and figures related to me and my experience; I think I should highlight some of my other experiences.
I’ve been selling and designing in the modular building field for about 18 years, where function is the most important feature. Then in the commercial and institutional realms where form and style play a larger part. Lastly in residential, where style is the most important consideration. I’ve probably designed and estimated over 1,000 spaces in my career. I’ve produced many graphic designs as well. Some of my work is on this site.
I have vast experience in construction and estimating. I’m quite familiar with building best practices and building codes. I have many years in the construction business. I’m versed in construction flow, permits, deadlines, inspections, budgets, flow charts, take-offs, blue-prints, audits, legal compliance and the like. I’ve used many design programs in the past and am very computer literate.
I also have a good history in sales and marketing; with other companies as well as my own ventures. You'll see some of my marketing copy on the site. Before owning businesses, I had a great career in specification sales, physical distribution, inventory, transport and logistics. I was fortunate to have been involved in a family business as a teenager and that has always stuck with me.
Drawing on my vast and varied business experiences, it seems natural my talents would prove valuable to start-up ventures or expansions.
In the day to day operations, I want my fellow workers to bring ideas to the table. I believe helping employees take possession of their duties and responsibilities gives them a vested interest in the business. We all need to be involved in the success of our enterprises. You never know when a seemingly small project will become a huge profit maker. We’ll never survive doing the same things year after year. We need to be fresh and cutting edge in our products, ideas and presentations.
In my dealings with my superiors, I will convey my concerns and my recommendations for their resolution. I’m not afraid to make a decision. Information and the ability to see the ‘big picture’ will facilitate making the right decision for all concerned. I don’t mind direction either, I have thick skin and you’re not going to hurt my feelings. We all know it’s a tough economy and we all need to be working in ways for all of us to succeed. I treasure a team effort.
In summary, I have learned many positives and negatives in business and industry. From Satellite, I learned the tremendous benefit of employee empowerment and that every deal is different and unique. From Pac-Van, I learned that focusing only on the bottom line will foment discontent and high turnover and a failure to act in the company’s and the customers' best interest. I learned from owning my own business; great customer relations, thorough, complete follow through and a keen insight in their business will create profits that keep the wheels turning. My foremost concern is to strike that delicate balance between the company’s interest, the employees’ interest and the clients’ interest which will foster long-term growth.
I want to join and grow with a company for the long term. After-all, money isn't everything. A challenging career with growth potential and opportunities in a good company is more important to me. A place where I can make a positive difference.
Since Sept. of 2012, I have relocated from Chicago to Glendive, MT. and opened a new branch location for a family owned, Montana based modular building company. I'm an expert in my field and grateful for this recent opportunity; although I'm confidant there is a company who recognizes the lucrative market the Bakken represents and is anxious to exploit it's tremendous growth potential. I'm the man for that potential.
If you believe an interview is in order I would be delighted.
Kindest Regards,
